Heroku Postgres 15 deprecation
Change effective on 04 August 2026
Heroku is deprecating support for all databases running Postgres 15. This deprecation is part of our documented version support policy. The end-of-life date is February 28, 2027.
Our schedule for deprecating all Postgres 15 databases is as follows:
- August 4, 2026: We send a deprecation notification to Heroku Postgres 15 database users.
- November 11, 2026: You can’t create Postgres 15 databases after this date. You can still create forks and followers of existing databases.
- January 28, 2027: Forced upgrades on deprecated Postgres 15 databases start.
- February 28, 2027: We start restricting database access and deleting databases for Postgres 15 databases after this end-of-life date.
We urge you to upgrade your databases to the next version as soon as possible so you can test application compatibility and perform the migration on your own schedule.
