Heroku PostgreSQL 12 deprecation
Change effective on 14 November 2023
We updated the deprecation date for all databases on PostgreSQL 12 to November 30, 2023. The end-of-life date is now May 30, 2024.
Our plan for deprecating all PostgreSQL 12 databases is as follows:
- November 30, 2023: We send a deprecation notification to Heroku PostgreSQL 12 database users.
- February 29, 2024: You can’t create Postgres 12 databases after this date. You can still create forks and followers of existing databases.
- April 30, 2024: Forced upgrades on deprecated Postgres 12 databases start.
- May 30, 2024: We start restricting database access and deleting databases for Postgres 12 databases after this end-of-life date.
We urge customers to upgrade their database to the next version as soon as possible so that they can test application compatibility and perform the migration on their own schedule.
