Heroku Data for Redis versions 4, 5, 6.0 deprecation on Premium, Private, Shield plans

Heroku is deprecating Heroku Data for Redis versions 4, 5, and 6.0 for Premium, Private, and Shield plans. We urge customers to upgrade their Heroku Data for Redis instances as soon as possible to the latest version. On April 30, 2023, the deprecated versions will become unavailable for provisioning and we’ll perform forced upgrades after May 30, 2023.
For instances on version 4 or 5 upgrading to the latest version, it requires some code changes. To secure connection for 4 and 5, stunnel from heroku/heroku-buildpack-redis buildpack is the recommended method, however from version 6.0, Redis uses native TLS connection and stunnel is no longer used. If this applies to you, once the upgrade is complete, remove stunnel from your build (ideally in maintenance mode) and follow the instructions on how to connect using TLS.
