Update to Config Vars Used in Private Heroku Postgres Plans

Change effective on 06 November 2018

Starting today (Tuesday 6th November), Private Heroku Postgres plans will start to have the following Heroku Postgres provided config vars removed from applications:

  • BASTIONS
  • BASTION_KEY
  • BASTION_REKEYS_AFTER

These config vars were used as a mechanism for delivering data required to run various heroku CLI commands, we are updating to use a new mechanism that does not require config vars. This means applications with many databases attached will no longer receive a periodic release to update these config vars. Customers receiving the new functionality will receive a single release (which will trigger an app restart) from Heroku Postgres to remove the old config vars.
