The Beekeeper Data add-on is currently in beta.

Beekeeper Data is the best way to query your Heroku Postgres database and share the results with colleagues, executives, and even customers.
Install the Beekeeper add-on:
$ heroku addons:create beekeeper
Upon installation, Beekeeper adds the
BEEKEEPER_URLconfig var to your app. This simply stores your unique Beekeeper login URL.
Open Beekeeper with the following command:
# Launch beekeeper in your browser $ heroku addons:open beekeeper
Link your database to Beekeeper by following the instructions shown on the Welcome page.
The workbench lets you write SQL queries against your Heroku Postgres instance.
Reports allow you to share data with business users without them needing to know SQL. Simply add parameters to your SQL queries and Beekeeper will automatically generate a user form for business users to use.
Dashboards let you share high level metrics with co-workers using charts and visualizations. They’re a great way to track company metrics.
Distribute gorgeous data and visualizations to executives, customers, and partners by email. Emailed reports can be personalized per-recipient, so they scale to tens of thousands of users.
Connecting More Databases
You can connect as many databases as you like to Beekeeper. We support a full range of databases from Postgres to Apache Hive.
For instructions on connecting an external database, see our detailed documentation.
Database connection errors
Sometimes the URL of your Heroku Postgres database can change. In that circumstance when you try to run a query/dashboard/report, you will get a connection error. You can resolve this with the following steps:
- Open Beekeeper and go to Settings > Datastores.
- Edit your Heroku datastore.
- Check the
databasefields against the
DATABASE_URLconfig var from your Heroku app to make sure they match the new url. The
DATABASE_URLis in the format
save. Beekeeper will test the connection and confirm that the update was successful.
If you’re clicking buttons in the UI and they don’t seem to be doing anything, try refreshing the page. If that doesn’t work, reopen Beekeeper from Heroku. If a page is left open for a long time in the background, sometimes the Heroku authentication can expire.
You can remove Beekeeper from your app via the Heroku CLI.
This action cannot be undone.
